Bitumen Plans - Getting Closer!

Tuesday night 9 Oct the committee met and finalised an application form that can be downloaded, printed and filled in,.  Download here.  Our idea is for any person/business to fill out the form with one of the three ideas (as detailed below) or nominate an alternative.

When the committee receives the form, agrees to it and cheque/money oreder/direct debit etc is received, then the agreement will be completely formalised.

As previously detailed we have a separate account set up for this project, and any moneys received will only be for the project.

For the last few years the club has been working towards bitumening the track.  The aim is to add to the overall complex, but not lose the dirt track aspect. It has been very successful and many members enjoy the Autocross and Dirt Sprint.

Kevin Parkes has spent time obtaining grants in the past, that we have been unable to use due to the timing and financial position of the club.  Other club members have also put in time obtaining soil tests in the preliminary phases.  Moss Lane has recently taken over the grant writing task and is pushing toward a Sports and Recreation Major Facilities Grant.

The club is now ready to take the next step in the future of Willowbank Park.  It is planned to seal the 1.2km section of the circuit.  We envisage that this will take the club to the next level and secure the clubs future for at least the next decade.

The application to the State Government through Sports and Recreations Major Facilities Grant is for $200 000.  One condition is that the club has to have a dollar for dollar input, meaning that we need to have a similar $200 000 in the bank.  We have about $120 000 in the bank largely due to the sale of the club rooms, therefore we need to raise another $80 000 to qualify for this grant.   Raising this capital requires some creativity and we are calling on the club membership and the motorsport community in general to help raise the extra capital.  The grant process will open for applications December, and the club needs to have the capitol in place by then.

There are three methods of raising the capitol, and the response to flyers and conversations has been great so far, but firm commitment is required.  There are three options to raise the money, and the first is directed towards the average club member.  The second is directed at club members and businesses who can dig a little deeper, and the third at corporate sponsorship.  The club is not confined to the detail laid out here, and any expressions of interest for a different sponsorship method will be examined individually.

Consider that Ipswich West Moreton Auto Club is the only club in South East Queensland in a position to make a new, quality track available to club level notorsport enthusiasts.  We have received expressions of interest from  clubs and organisations and the committee is very up beat about the clubs future. To keep the raised monies protected the club has set up a trust account to hold the monies until  the project is commenced. The money will be unavailable for any other purpose and will therefore be available should the project not gain enough funding.

Below are the three options, but don't confine your thoughts to just those.  If  you have a more suitable suggestion please convey it to the club.

OPTION ONE:       Club Membership - a short term loan to the club of $500, repaid over a 2 year period.

OPTION TWO:       Private Sponsorship - $1000 giving the following benefits
                                 5 years club membership
                                 Free practice days
4 private corporate days per year for 2 years
Free entry to Willowbank Park for 5 years

OPTION THREE:  Corporate Sponsorship - $2000 (minimum)
                                5 year family membership
                                Free practice days
                                Product Release Days
4 private corporate days per year for 2 years
Free entry to Willowbank Park for 5 years

The grant process must be completed around end November so time is of the essence.  Please contact President John Connell 0438161436, Moss Lane 0428717535 or the club at IWMAC, PO Box 112, Ipswich QLD 4305.
